Subic Bay will once again participate the International Coastal Cleanup 2017. It will be held on the stretch of Moonbay Marina, participation of Local Government Units, private sectors and students.
This event hopes to gather like-minded individuals and companies who want to do their part in protecting our environment where they can share their ideas and collaborate with others to grow and expand their respective projects. It is about inspiring each other to continue their advocacy and spread their passion and love for our planet, our only home. It will serve as a platform that will provide the public a better understanding of the various environmental issues we’re currently facing and finding solutions for a more sustainable future.

ATOP Pearl Hall of Famer Ibong Dayo a dance group from Bataan paved the way with upbeat dancing from Building 229 to Boardwalk Area where the program will recommence. As darkness built across the skyline, bit by bit the merrymaking evolved into a night of bash and blast. OIC administrator & CEO of SBMA Mr. Randy Escolango imparted his speech on how he is proud that Subic Bay is performing well in the Tourism industry and other welfare. It is there that the teaser for Festival of Festival was launched, to promote the best that has yet to come for Subic Bay on 2017. The host introduced once again Ibong Dayo to showcase their breathtaking performance to give them a little taste of the incoming Festival of Festivals in 2017.
Everyone gathered for the much awaited event of the night, The Christmas Tree Lighting. The crowd devoted a short invocation to commemorate an extraordinary milestone for the people of Olongapo and Subic Bay.
"This is the season to celebrate the birth of Christ, to bring together mankind and be forgiven for our sins.", SBMA Chairman Martin Dino said in his speech. As the countdown came to an end, the sky illuminated as SBMA Chairman Mr. Martin Dino and OIC administrator & CEO of SBMA Mr. Randy Escolango hit the buttons. The Boardwalk Area echoed of Christmas songs and loud cheers from the crowd as they welcome the month long celebration.
Former Freestyle vocalist Mr. Top Suzara, DJ Cristina Paras, DJ Carla Cray, and local musical bands brought entertainment for the rest of the night. Bazaars, Food Stalls, and Souvenir Shops were set up near the event area to keep the crowd going on. The Christmas Tree Lighting in Subic is made possible by the joint efforts of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, Department of Tourism Subic Bay, and San Miguel Corporation, and Manila North Tollways Corporation.

Subic Bay Tourism Month
Week 1 (September 5-11, 2016)
The ribbon cutting ceremony held at Ayala Harbor Point to mark the opening of the Photo/Trade Exhibit featuring exquisite photos taken inside Subic Bay. Tables are set at the Promenade area to showcase delicacies and products made by locals from provinces in Zambales. The Job Fair was held at the Subic Gym welcoming job hunters as early as 10:00 in the morning, the fair lasted for two days.
Followed by the Familiarization Tour for Subic Bay Employees and Students from Aura College, it lasted for 2 hours where participants ride a coach going to the famous landmarks of Subic Bay Freeport Zone while a tour guide pitches the history and background of the base and a side trip to the Butterfly Garden and Funtastic Park.
Week 2 (September 12-18, 2016)
The second week started with a very informative Tourism Talk with Ms. Fritzhie A. Viray the guest speaker for the topic, “A campaign towards service excellence in Subic Bay”. It was followed by the Flairtending/Bartending Competition for Professionals that featured talented bartenders who make cocktails with a twist.
This was also the week where the Tourism Quiz Challenge at the Activity Center in Ayala Harbor Point Mall, where students from local Colleges in the Metro tried their luck in answering questions about tourism. The winners were Kristel Basa (3rd Place), Eunelyn Escobar (2nd Place), and Richard Cuevas (Grand Winner). Subic Got Talent for the School Category started afterwards where students displayed their diverse talents, from singing to dancing. The winners were Almira Lat (3rd Place), Teatro Gat’aitab (2nd Place), and Jeah Aquino (Grand Winner).
Week 2 was also host to SBMA’s Fun Run where the HRMD/CSC and locators of SBMA participated, this was held at Remy Field 5:00 in the morning.
Week 3 (September 19-24, 2016)
The week started with a stellar Tourism Talk about “Astro Tourism” led by Engr. Camilo G. Dacanay introducing special interest tourism by observing the heavens and is fulfilled mainly in geographic locations that occupy the conditions necessary and suitable to do so. And a very informative talk about " Best Practices of Zambales Tourism" led by Ms. Ma. Dometela Mora where she highlights the cream of the crop when it comes to tourist destinations in Zambales.
Another scheduled Familiarization Tour was set for the second batch of Subic Bay Employees and Students from AMA College, it lasted for 2 hours where participants ride a coach going to the famous landmarks of Subic Bay Freeport Zone while a tour guide pitches the history and background of the base and a side trip to the Butterfly Garden and Funtastic Park. The week capped off with yet another Subic Got Talent competing this time are contestants from locators inside SBFZ. The winners are Sean Michael San Diego (3rd Place), Sharon Escarpe (2nd Place), and Ruel Osorio (Grand Winner).
Week 4 (September 26-30, 2016)
The last week of the celebration was capped off with a very active Tourism Talk about " Sports Management- Marathon" governed by Mr. Ronan Paulo Santos Enriquez. Later that day, the Tourism Department together with the SBMA Coop conducted an outreach program in Subic Zambales where they turned over sacks of rice, canned good, noodles, and other essential staple. Recipients were the Ayta students of St. Francis Learning Center Foundation, Inc. (SFLCFI).
The month long celebration of Tourism Day in Subic Bay definitely is one for the books, according to the officials of DOT, it is very unusual for them to organize such a long and strenuous event but finishing strong is an accomplishment for the team. Locals and Tourists enjoyed the festivities and will definitely look forward to next year’s celebration.

2nd Subic Bay Arbor Day Celebration
The tree-planting project was arranged by the Ecology Center of SBMA in Pastolan Village, home for our Aeta brothers and sisters in Subic. The activity started at around 7:30 in the morning was initiated by Mr. Patrick Escusa Division Chief of Ecology Center, SBMA Chariman Roberto V. Garcia, and Vice Mayor Elect Jong Cortez with their kind and encouraging words before heading on to the location of the seed-planting.
From kalamansi, avocado, guyabano, coffee, coconut, kasoy, and other variety seedlings,visitors gathered around, chose their preferred greenery and proceed to the designated lot where you can plant them. Aeta elders were at their most accommodating behavior while they assisted and guided visitors to the location of gardening.
After getting down and dirty and appreciating the amazing view of Pastolan, visitors start to head back to the main entrance of the Vegetable Garden where a Boodle fight was about to start, tables were set with banana leaves, on it are rice, boiled eggplant, salted eggs, tomato and onion salad, grilled fish, and steamed shrimps, and a ripe banana for dessert. And if that still leaves guests feeling hungry, other groups were giving away snacks, juice packs, sandwiches, and bottled water.
As Arbor Day came to a finish, everyone felt elated and accomplished especially when you stare on to the horizon and take a glimpse of cultivated little plants that will soon bloom into majestic trees that will provide abundant harvest after a year.
Among the enthusiastic visitors were SBMA employees, locators, Boy Scout of the Philippines, Police Officers, environmental groups and locals that want to take care of our environment.

Paddles Up 4th Leg 2016
Solar Sports in cooperation with Subic Park Hotel recently concluded the Paddles Up Competition held at the
Moonbay Marina Beach in the Boardwalk Area of Subic Bay. This is the first-ever dragon boat tour in the Philippines
that had 700 participants nationwide to take part in the momentous race.
An early morning Zumba session served as a warm up with our resident Zumba instructors. Ms. Kahna Versoza, owner of Subic Park Hotel parted a few words to wish everyone triumph. The traditional marking of the dragon’s eye was settled before announcing the match officially open.
The race started off with the Women’s 10 seaters (Small Boat) followed by the Mixed Masters 10 seaters (Small Boat) and Men’s (Open) 20 seaters (Full Boat). Here is the events turn out for the major finals in each classification of the Subic leg:

The highlight of the event is the Shower Time, where a firefighter jets water coming from a firefighter hose that ignites a semi-rave party; and also the giving away of prizes from generous sponsors. The team that came out victorious were members from our very own Philippines Navy winning both the Mixed Masters Class and the Women's Class, while Sagwan Tanauan reigned and surprised us with their comportment coming out winners for the Men's Class, winning by a mere half a second.
The whole day was filled with fun, sportsmanship and festivities. The highlight of the event is the Shower Time, where a firefighter jets water coming from a firefighter hose that ignites a semi-rave party; and also the giving away of prizes from generous sponsors.
The night was capped off with amazing food and cold beverages during the Awarding Ceremony. Further into the celebration were production numbers from Hula Dancers, Local Singers, Fire Breathers, and a Local Band that elated the excitement of everyone after the tournament.

Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2016
A four day occasion marked the 20 th year of the longest running sports and aviation event in Clark Freeport Zone,
Pampanga Philippines. Spectacular aerial shows like skydiving and paragliding, maneuvered kite demonstrations by KAP
(Kite Association of the Philippines), airplane rally, aerobic tricks, precision flying, ultra-light flying,
helicopter fly- by and aero modelers flight exhibition by Aero-modelers Association. Of course, the highlight of the
event itself, the balloon bursting competition and latest hot air balloons from around the world.
A tourist destination every year solicited visitors from Asia especially Aviation enthusiasts promoting the theme,
“Super fun weekend of everything that flies”. The sunrise was welcomed with a breathtaking view of the fly-in; come
sunset the sky illuminated during its fly-in.

at about 10 in the evening.
The place is packed of things to see and things to do, with over a hundred food stalls, game booths, photo displays,

comfortable attire, sun block, a cap, hat, or an umbrella. Make sure that you bring water with you so you could stay
hydrated.

Subic Bay Auto Show 7
With over 6,000 spectators and 200 contenders from Olongapo and bordering locations from Metro Manila, Bataan, Pampanga, Tarlac, and as far as Nueva Ecija and Abra that share the same passion when it comes to tricked out cars and amazing vibe.
The event kicked off at about 10:00 in the morning showcasing in a competition their drifting skills while beating the opponent’s best time around the tracks. Everything followed as the celebration advanced where Enthusiasts paraded their cars from the most pimped out, to luxurious, and even vintage entries were spotted. Up for grabs that day were this year’s: Best Vintage Car, Best European Car, Best Body kits, Loudest Car, Subic's Finest Car, Best SUV and Best Interior to name a few.
Generous sponsors nationwide set up tents served as eye-candy to spectators where featured car care products, promo deals quality tires, and contests where they can participate and win goodies. Popular radio station 89.5FM’s DJ Double B piloted the live stream and also provided updates on who is winning categorically. Subic.com hosted a photo contest where spectators get a chance to win a Complimentary Over night accommodation at Subic Park Hotel.
The night paved way for competitors to boast more than just engine sounds as they unveil neon glows from their vehicles. Music can be heard all over the venue which made the festivities more energetic. Of course, the night was capped off by hot babes dancing on the latest beat and Ms. Kim Domingo gracing us with her presence. This will surely make everyone look forward for next year’s Subic Bay Auto Show for sure. See you there!
